Speaking in Tongues, an award-winning documentary, is airing on PBS starting this week! Don't miss it!
At a time when 31 states have passed “English Only” laws, four pioneering families put their children in public schools where, from the first day of kindergarten, their teachers speak mostly Chinese or Spanish. Speaking in Tongues follows four diverse kids on a journey to become bilingual. This charming story will challenge you to rethink the skills that Americans need in the 21st century.

Help Keep our Physical Education Program at
San Rafael! Due to state budget cuts, our P.E. program has been eliminated for next year. However, if we work together, we can keep our P.E. teacher part-time next year! We need to raise $13,500 (approximately $50 per San Rafael family) to fill the gap in our budget. Please give what you can or make a larger donation if possible!

All donations are tax-deductible through the Pasadena Educational Foundation. Checks should be made payable to "PEF" with "San Rafael P.E. Fund" written in the memo line. Online donations can be made HERE - Please be sure to specify "San Rafael P.E. Fund".

The Altadena Branch of the NAACP has chosen to honor Alyson Beecher at their 25th Anniversary Celebration in November! She is being recognized for her contributions & accomplishments as a Principal in the Pasadena Unified School District, for her years of work in the field of Education, and her service to our students & citizens.
